End of Summer Picnics

for the love of summer

We feel very lucky to live in a city that has no shortage of outdoor spaces. Summers are glorious in the Pacific Northwest, clear skies and bright days for us to soak enough vitamin D to store before our gloomy and rainy season.

One way to ensure we enjoy every last bit of summer left in this chaotic year is definitely picnics!

A couple of weeks ago, we set out to find picnic-worthy spots in and around Portland and we thought we’d share some photos from our adventure! Whether you go by the water, to the nearest park, or even on a rooftop, we hope you feel inspired to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy as many moments outdoors as you possibly can, it is good for the soul.

Sandwiches by The Water

Stone fruit is definitely how we know summer is coming to an end. Once peaches, pluots, and plums emerge, we know squashes and pumpkins won’t be too far behind.

What we packed: sparkling water, Suzor Wines Chardonnay, honey-cardamom almonds, peaches and pluots, and pre-made french sandwiches (butter, brie and ham in a skinny baguette from our favorite bakery!). Plates, wine glasses, napkins, a picnic blanket, and a Spotify playlist with our favorite French songs.

On a late Wednesday morning, we drove to a reservoir in Silverton — about 40 minutes outside of Portland — and enjoyed lunch on the water, surrounded by trees and sunshine! We saw a father and daughter kayaking and a group of friends dive in and swim away, as we basked in the sun and wished for the summer to stay for another six months…
