MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MASSACHUSETTS | SEPTEMBER 2025
Presented by Patrón
We celebrated Summer’s end in the best place we could think of: seaside. We packed up, hopped the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, and headed to the Harbor View Hotel. The rambling, historic building stands proudly at the end of a lane in Edgartown, just across the street from a sandy beach scattered with horseshoe crabs, a lighthouse guarding the entrance to the open ocean beyond.
After a private cocktail hour on the hotel’s panoramic veranda, we set a table of crisp white linen across the lawn, framed by neat hedgerows and blooming rosebushes. Chef Juan Martinez built a special menu for our celebration that pulled from his personal heritage to celebrate Patrón Tequila, exploring the braided influences of Spainish and Latin American cuisine. Each course paired with a cocktail designed by Regional Agave Master, Krystal Garner, to celebrate the end of summer and highlight agave spirits’ versatility (and deliciousness!)
Supper stretched until just past sunset, but guests lingered around the glowing table long after dark, sipping their final cocktails and enjoying the evening, which carried with is the first hint of chill of the changing season.
WELCOME
We started the afternoon on the veranda of the 130-year-old hotel, overlooking the Katama Bay and Chappaquiddick Island beyond. Pocket doors wrapping around the building opened as guests arrived to reveal a whimsical spread of chef-prepared bites and refreshing Patrón cocktails to kick off our pairings for the night. Chef Juan set the stage for his meal to come by showcasing beautiful seafood and Spanish-influenced flavors — perfect compliments to the tequila in everyone’s glasses.
A MENU BY JUAN MARTINEZ
Chef Juan Martinez from Bettini at the Harbor View Hotel seized the opportunity to get creative and build a menu based on his Spanish and Mexican heritage. He blended flavors of quince and Valencia orange with his take on his family’s Mole recipe, adding in a bit of beautiful Atlantic seafood and some seasonal stone fruit to round things out.

At sunset, after we cleared everyone’s entree and just before serving dessert, we invited everyone up to the bar for a special pour of Patrón El Alto. Krystal passed around flutes while guests passed each other cheers and stood up to see the cotton candy clouds at twilight.
SECRET LOCATION: THE HARBOR VIEW HOTEL
The Harbor View Hotel opened in Edgartown in July 1981. The picturesque whaling-town-turned-resort is an iconic Martha’s Vineyard destination, with whitewashed cottages and narrow lanes lined with hydrangeas in late summer. By starting on the veranda and wrapping around to the hotel’s rose garden, surrounded by Neo-Gothic architecture, we got to experience views of lighthouse beach and the serenity this small town is famous for.
