Serenity

ATLANTA, GEORGIA  | MAY 2025‍

In the 1990s, Steve and Marie Nygren decided to take a day trip out of Atlanta with their daughters to explore the Georgia countryside. Their Saturday getaway turned into a life-changing decision to buy the historic farmhouse and grounds they found that afternoon. They restored and developed the property into the Inn at Serenbe, now part of a larger biophilic community designed to connect people to nature and community.

We set up in their farmhouse garden for a Supper specially curated to connect every guest to the land, here in Georgia and across the country in the California’s Russian River Valley. Chef Jarret Stieber celebrated Georgia farmers with his garden fresh menu, while six Russian River Valley Winegrowers brought their favorite selections to showcase the terroir of their home region. As they poured each wine, they shared stories of their creation, transporting everyone to their land through the glasses in their hands. Meanwhile, the lush gardens of Serenbe invited us to get lost in the singular place we shared for the afternoon, to forget about the bustle of the world beyond and sink into the present moment. The entire evening was punctuated with the clink of glassware as waves of cheers washed around the table, guests drawn together in good conversation until the sunlight faded and the lights of the nearby inn washed over the lawn.

WELCOME

After winding down a perimeter road past the historic barn and its resident farm animals, guests were greeted by six winemakers scattered around the lawn, pouring their personal favorites from their cellars. The Serenbe culinary team passed some light bites during the tasting, setting everyone up for a delicious dinner to come from Chef Jarett.

A MENU BY CHEF JARRETT STEIBER

Chef and owner of Atlanta’s foremost restaurant named after a dog, Jarrett Steiber of Little Bear marries a host of global influences with hyper-seasonal, farm sourced ingredients and a heavy sense of humor to create his cuisine. He brought those sensibilities to the table for our Supper, serving a fresh, surprising menu showing off the best of Georgia’s late-spring harvest.

WINE PAIRINGS

With each course, we provided guest’s with a side-by-side tasting of two complimentary wines from the Russian River Valley. This allowed everyone a chance not only to try multiple wines from each maker, but to explore the difference in terroir from across the California wine region, and how each vintage plays differently with cuisine.

NIGHTCAP

After the formal a pairings ended, our winemakers had the chance to walk the table and offer their favorite selections from the night or give guests a chance to revisit whatever they loved most.

Luckily, Chef Jarrett’s dessert carried notes of chocolate, citrus, and five-space, making it a playful accompaniment to whatever was in anyone’s glass.

SECRET LOCATION: SERENBE

Serenbe’s expansive property offers a little bit for everyone: winding walking trails, farm animals, historic architecture, gorgeous gardens, and even a giant chess board. It was a wonderful, whimisical setting for Supper, and a perfect home base for those who opted to stay the night on-site, whether at the inn or in a nearby cottage.
