Gente y Vino

VALLE DE GUADALUPE, MEXICO  |  MARCH 2020

What a fantastic way to kick off the 2020 Supper Series!

Last November, while having a fantastic team lunch in Guadalajara, we were feeling adventurous and ordered a wine from Valle de Guadalupe to pair our scrumptious meal with. Next thing you know, we are making Baja California our first stop for 2020!

After a serendipitous discovery of this breathtaking wine region, we were beyond excited to welcome our guests to the stunning panoramic views of the valley for an evening that would be in their minds for a long time to come.

Without rush, almost true to the pace of the area, guests arrived at Finca La Carrodilla where a delightfully playful Roca Patrón cocktail—crafted exclusively for this Supper and offered in partnership with Patrón—was the perfect opening to an evening of intentional dining. Gorgeous and delicious shrimp and scallop mini tostadas were the first encounter guests had with Chef Sheyla’s extraordinary menu.

Following a brief introduction to the region and to our featured Chef, guests strolled through the vineyard and arrived at the dinner table tucked in the olive grove. Full of anticipation, they pulled up a seat and introduced themselves to their neighbors. Just like that, with freshly poured Rosé of Grenache, our culinary experience was in full swing!

Chef Sheyla Alvarado created and executed a hyper local menu that highlighted fresh ingredients. It included a colorful roasted vegetables and sheep cheese salad, a smoked fish dish, a table-side grilled rib eye with wild mushrooms on a mole sauce that everyone raved about, and a queso oreado apple pie and nut brittle ice cream to die for. Sheyla and her team brought a fresh and contemporary approach to the history and tradition of Mexican cuisine that left everyone at the table in awe.

After hours of enjoying the most scrumptious food paired with incredibly striking Carrodilla and Lomita wines, sharing stories and laughter while watching the sky change colors from that perfect corner of the valley, the evening came to an end. We had to say goodbye to an awe-inspiring experience that warmed our hearts and made us crave more exploration and discovery of exciting places.

Until next time, dear Baja!
