The day of our Seattle Supper was one of those rare, perfect, late-spring days in Washington. Each of the many greens of the manicured gardens at Jardin del Sol stood out against the bluebird sky, which perfectly matched the floral tablecloths we selected. The cloudless sky was decorated with wisps of cotton from the surrounding dogwood trees drifted gently in the warm air. Two half-moon tables fit just about perfectly in line with the sharp-edged hedges framing the garden’s lawn, creating a cozy nook in which to serve a very special meal from De la Soil.

Since moving to Maine, we’ve hosted events in beautiful barns and tented shelters, driven inside by the Northeast’s famously mercurial weather. We planned to set the dinner table inside the historic barn for our early summer Supper

We ended up back in the historic barn for Supper, with creamsicle-striped tablecloths and tiny flowers bubbling over the edges of their vases. We got to enjoy some spectacular views of the grounds (and the ocean nearby) while sipping on Delola Spritzes before gathering together for an amazing, locally-focused Supper paired with Suzor Wines. Despite all the changes, our original inspiration carried through to a wonderful evening — down to some incredible seafood towers based on Danielle’s inspiration board. The gathering was convivial and warm, a celebration of the beauty of springtime on the coast!

‍There’s a particular feeling — a calmness of body and mind — that is familiar to anyone who has found themselves in a quiet woods in the afternoon, when the sun slants through the tree canopy in syrupy bars that cloud the trail ahead in a glittering haze. The achingly short days of fall only enhance the moment. Those thick rays of sunlight break up the chill of the shadows with piercing bands of subtle warmth.

Cordova was truly beyond our dreams! A town of less than 3,000 people, only accessible by plane or ferry, surely presented us with challenges—more than we anticipated—nothing should be taken for granted in a place like Cordova.
